Kindergarten! Here She Comes!

 Welcomed to the bus stop! 

The bus ride was the only part that she said was scary!  She said it was just scary at first and now she loves it.  She mades friends on the bus and at school!  Her teacher called the first week to say how quiet and well behaved Kaitlyn was in class - I was sure to check that she was talking about Kaitlyn Lenhart and sure enough it was my crazy, blonde ball of energy that is quiet and well behaved at school!  I'll take the crazy girl at home if she's going to be good at school!

2nd Grade!

 Kelsey started 2nd grade this August!  She started 2 days before Kaitlyn. (Kindergarten starts late).  This was a problem.  She did not want to go.  She did not get the teacher that she wanted.  She did not have any friends from last year in her class.  She did not sleep the night before.  She did not eat that morning.  She almost did not get on the bus.  It was not a good morning....

 Reluctantly, she moped over to the bus and did not even look up to wave at me.  But, she loved her teacher, made new friends, and 2nd grade is going to be awesome! 

Last pool trip for the summer.

 Getting Brave!

 We took our last trip to the pool for the summer.  The girls like this pool because of the slides and the diving board.  We spent a few hours swimming and then headed home for pizza!  Good-bye to summer fun.

Bapism and Sight Seeing.

 Avalene was baptized on Sunday.  Michelle and Bob stood as Godparents.  She didn't cry at all and fell asleep by the end! 

 We spent the rest of the day sightseeing - the bean and water play!

American Girl and a Walk to the Park

 We were all excited to check out American Girl while we were in Chicago!

 Lunch with our bittys.  This was much more fun than our last lunch - 3 years ago! The girls talked to their dolls, played pretend and really enjoyed the attention from our waittress.  Very Cute!

 

 

 Bob was very useful at the store  :)

 So happy with their purchases!  They got new movies to watch and accessories to take home!

 Divas on Michigan Avenue.

 The girls loved the Apple store as much as the American Girl store!  They explored and played on the iPods, iPads, and computers.  So easy to use! 

 

 We took a walk to an elementary school close to Karen and Philip's house and played at the playground. Max even joined in on the fun!



Science Museum and Dinner out at Maggiano's

On Friday, we spent some time at the Museum of Science and Industry.  The girls liked seeing a movie about monkeys and elephants.  They liked the storm/tornado area and the rock wall.  

 

 Here they are with the Mars rover!  We actually went to Mars this summer and had a chance to see a replica of the rover.

Shedd Aquarium and evening with Avalene

 On our second day in Chicago, we spent the whole afternoon at the Shedd Aquarium and then took the water taxi to the Navy Pier.  We let Kathy and Bob take the girls by taxi over to Karen and Philip's house!  They loved taxi rides!  Then we all got back together that evening.

Kaitlyn was very independent on the water taxi.  She made friends with an older gentleman and sat and listened to him tell her all about the navy ships and the city of Chicago.  She's so unpredictable - social one minute, glued to me the next.

First day in Chicago - Wrigley Field and Dinner with Avalene!

 Straight to Wrigley Field!  We had our bags held at the hotel and took the train straight to Wrigley Field!  88 degrees and full sun...we used the water misters for the entire game and took time to walk around in the shade.  The Cubs won the game and it was worth the heat to see the field!

 We could have charged people to be misted!

 Later that night, we got checked in and then walked to a close by restaurant for dinner with Uncle Philip, Aunt Karen and Avalene.  The girls were all over her - literally.
